Dierdre L. McCool, M.A., LPC
Dierdre joined the DPA team in January 1996 and interacts with all members of the adoption triad. She considers working with birth families one of the greatest privileges on earth.
Dierdre is highly committed to educating adoptive families about the unique blessings and challenges of raising children of adoption and is active in educating the public about the importance of empowering women in unintended pregnancies with knowledge about this amazing option.
Dierdre served as president of the Oklahoma Adoption Coalition and was recently appointed to serve on the Adoption Review Task Force by the Office of the Speaker. She was named as Oklahoma’s 2007 Angel in Adoption by Dr. Tom Coburn, an award given to individuals exhibiting outstanding advocacy of adoption and/or foster care issues. Dierdre also served as Lead Master Trainer for the Infant Adoption Awareness Training Program from 2002-2005.
Dierdre has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Masters in Marital and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Some of her favorite activities include traveling, bike riding, reading and spending time with her husband of 24 years.
