Foster Care Adoption

Adopt a child from foster care in Oklahoma City.In 2013, DPA was invited by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) to help locate forever families for waiting foster children. Believing that every child is precious in God’s site, we decided to answer the call and help locate forever families for Oklahoma’s kids.

On any given day, there are approximately 500 children waiting to be adopted in Oklahoma. Most of the youth are between the ages of four and 17 and are part of a sibling group. They are from various ethnic backgrounds and some have special emotional, medical or physical needs. All deserve a family to call their own.

Minimum Guidelines

Minimum age for couples is 21; no more than a 50 year age difference between child and parent. Must be married two or more years. If on second (+) marriage, must be married five or more years. Active in a Christ-centered church.

Why should I use DPA instead of OKDHS to adopt a waiting foster child?

DPA enjoys a century-plus worth of experience in adoption. Our team is well-equipped to navigate the complexities of adopting a waiting foster child. We are able to provide your required pre-adoption training, write your home study, conduct all of your post-placement services, and assist with finalization arrangements. Our goal is to make sure you have one Adoption Specialist throughout the process who knows you personally and advocates for your family and your child’s needs. We offer specialized services to help everyone transition smoothly and to aid in preserving your family in a healthy way.

Because the State of Oklahoma is subsidizing a majority of the adoption costs, your fees are much less than a private adoption. The out-of-pocket cost for your application, pre-adoption training and home study is $1,100. The only other fee you have is for the legal fees related to finalizing your adoption. Families using OKDHS for their adoption incur this cost as well; however, a subsidy may be available to offset the legal fees.
